Email Templates

An email template is a pre-designed and/or prewritten email that can be used to quickly and easily write and create new emails. To create an email template, click on CRM in the left menu of your website dashboard. In the next screen,  hover over Emails, and choose Email Templates from the dropdown menu. Then click on Create New Template.

Email Subject and Pre-Header

Add an appropriate Title to the template so you can easily identify it for later use. It’s for internal use only and no customers will ever see the name. Create a catchy Email Subject and Email Pre-Header which has an important role for opening the email by the end-user. The Email Subject and Pre-Header will be seen by recipients.

Email Styling and Layout

The next step is to choose your email’s design and style. By clicking the tiny gear icon, you can change the Email Styling Settings.

In the pop-up window, you can change your template’s Body Background Color, Content Width, Content Background Color, Default Content Color, Footer Text Color, Default Link Color, Content Font Family, and Headings Font Family. When you’re satisfied with your template’s styling settings, click Update Settings. This is also where you can enable or disable the default email footer.

Email Marketing also provides you with four email layout templates to choose from. The templates options are located right after the gear icon. There are four basic templates available to choose from, Simple Boxed, Plain Centered, Classic Editor, and Raw HTML.

  1. Simple Boxed: Choose this option to compose a simple-boxed email.
  2. Plain Centered: This lets you compose a centered-aligned email.
  3. Classic Editor: Choose this option to compose your emails with the old-classic editor.
  4. Raw HTML: Choose this option to write or import Raw HTML (Note: Do not switch templates once you’ve written or imported your HTML).

Composing Email

Email Marketing templates are created using blocks. To check the available blocks you can use on your email templates, just hit the + button. You can also add personalization within your emails by using contact properties. Simply press the @ button on your keyboard and your possible contact properties will show up.

Note: You can also add blocks as you compose your email. To do so, just press the / button on your keyboard and the blocks will show up.

Below are the available blocks in Email Marketing:

Paragraph: Use this block to add simple text paragraphs. In the right sidebar, you can change the Font Size, Color Settings, Text Settings, or Typography of your paragraph.

Heading: The headings block lets you add headings to your email template. Again, the right sidebar lets you make font, color, and advanced typography changes.

List: You can add list items within your email templates. Change the font size or color settings if you want.

Classic: The classic block gives you the ability to use the basic editor. Choose your options wisely as some options may not work in all email templates.

Table: To include a table in your email, add a table block and select how many columns and rows you want to include. Use the right sidebar to make any design changes.

Image: Use the image block to insert an image from your Red OnX media library or upload one from your computer. From the right sidebar, you can make design changes.

Button: Use the button block to easily add and design beautiful CTA buttons. The right sidebar is where you can change button Style, Color Settings, Border Settings, Width Settings, and Link Settings.

Column: The column block lets you add and design columns. Once you add a column block, you need to select column variation and color settings from the right sidebar. Currently there are six column variations available in Email Marketing’s email composer. The example shows a two-column variation with 70:30 proportion.

You can add more blocks such as paragraph, image, buttons, etc., inside your columns.

Group: The group block lets you create a grouped design and include headings, text, image, buttons, etc. If you move or make changes, it will affect the whole group.

Spacer: You can use the spacer block to customize spacing within your email template.

Conditional Section: The conditional section is a unique feature that lets you personalize your email body effectively. Please read our documentation to learn how you can personalize your emails with the conditional section.

Custom HTML: You can include custom HTML codes by adding a custom HTML block.

RSS: RSS helps you fetch feeds from your blog, news, or product page. To do so, just add an RSS block and enter the URL for the feed. In the right sidebar, you can select the number of items you want to display (up to 10) as well as choose whether to show the author’s name, publish date, and excerpt.

Product Block: This block lets you automatically fetch products from within your store, complete with image, price and purchase button.

To add a product block for selling your products in your Store, select the Product Block. Next, you’ll be asked to select your product. Choose the product you want to add and hit Done.

Once you have added the product, you can show or hide the product description, price and colors of your content, content background, etc.

That’s it! When you are done with the body content, click on the Create Template from the top right, and your template is ready for use! You can also Send a Test Email to yourself if you want to check your email before reaching out to your audience.
